Inkjet Cartridges:
Are they as good
as the Manufacturers'
Print Cartridge?
In
recent years, print cartridge options have really opened up. Used
to be the only way to replace your inkjet printer ink or laser toner
cartridge was to buy one from the manufacturer, sometimes at horrifying
expense. Nowadays, however, you have three additional options for
renewing your print cartridge. You can go with compatible inkjet cartridges,
remanufactured printer cartridges, or ink refill kits. Compatible
inkjet cartridges are made by a company other than the manufacturer.
A
remanufactured print cartridge is where a one-time used inkjet or
laser toner cartridge is cleaned, refilled with fresh toner or inkjet
printer ink, then tested and resold at a big discount. These are usually
priced similarly to compatible inkjet cartridges. As far as quality
goes, there have been tests run where both remanufactured and compatible
inkjet cartridges scored as well as or better than manufacturers brands.
The
third additional option is ink refill kits. These are the kits where
you inject fresh inkjet printer ink into your own print cartridge,
or fresh toner into your laser toner cartridge. While this is generally
cheaper than remanufactured or compatible inkjet cartridges, not everyone
wants to be squirting ink at home, also, you can only refill a cartridge
so many times before it starts going bad.
