How Does Dry Toner in the Laser
Toner Cartridge Work Faster Than Ink?
If you are currently
shopping for laser cartridges, perhaps you are wondering how dry
toner in the laser toner cartridge can make copies faster than
the ink in inkjet printers. Well, the way a copier or printer uses
toners to get an image onto the paper is very ingenious. It's done
with positive and negative electrical charges. The toner in the
laser cartridges is given a positive electrical charge. The image
is projected onto a cylinder inside the printer which has a negative
charge, therefore causing the toner to be drawn to the cylinder.
When the cylinder then rolls over the paper, the paper is given
a positive charge first, so the toner is then drawn to it. Since
the toner is mixed with tiny bits of plastic in the laser toner
cartridge, when the paper then goes through the fuser, a pair of
heated rollers, it "melts" the toner/plastic onto the
paper.
All machines
that use toners work in this way - fax toner, copiers, laserjet
printers, etc. With a well made machine, this process can be done
at high speeds. This is how laserjet printers can be so efficient
and cost-effective. When you shop for your laser toner cartridge,
